So sorry for the lack of updates. Our household has been in chaos. We are all doing well and just juggling every day life with a few additions. We hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and a great New Year!! I (Missie) am finally feeling back to normal and I am back to work. I have 100% given up soda and anything else that will contribute to any additional bouts of blocked kidney stones. I guess that is what looking at possibly not surviving will do to you. As for the house and the pipe that flooded the downstairs, I am happy to announce the adjuster has completed her evaluation and we received a check in the mail so this Monday construction will begin. We cannot wait, as we have been without a kitchen and well entire downstairs since December 17th. Baby steps!! Chris on his way home from work New Year’s Eve was hit by a Aneheim police officer, no injuries thank God, but we will be making lots of repairs to his car. I unfortunately decreased his insurance to liability (trying to save a buck) which has proven to have not been such a good idea. But he is ok and that is all that matters. Now for Ben….He had another surgery where they inject multiple steroids into all of the thick spots with his big scars and he recovered well, he surprises us all the time. He will be having another more in depth surgery most likely in March to release a large scar on his right side and arm. He is now receiving some home schooling as he has missed so much school due to all of his appointments, head aches etc…. We are really hoping he can get caught up so he can get through first semester without needing to retake classes. He does get overwhelmed at the fact he is so far behind but he is being good about trying to get caught up. Ben still surprises us with his spirit, I really don’t think many kids his age would have been able to fair through the way he has through all of this. It truly is remarkable watching him day to day. I will keep everyone posted o his next surgery. He has been quite sick the past week and a half with the flu but is still being positive. He is very excited that the final 2 spots on his body have closed up and he can possibly go in the OCEAN this weekend. He received a awesome new wetsuit and head cover/face mask from Rip Curl, he is so excited and very thankful to them for donating this to him. Now he will be fully covered, warm and protected. He won’t be able to surf as he does not have the full range of motion, but Ben doesn’t care he just wants to “get in the water”. Thank you to everyone for all of your ogoing thoughts and prayers we really do appreciate them. I am going to not be posting that often as we are really trying to get “our lives back to some sort of normalcy”. But for anyone who would like continued status updates please feel free to e-mail me at ortizfamily2@yahoo.com. This is not that we are ungrateful we are just needing some normalcy moving forward for our entire family. Now off to dinner for Christopher’s 19th birthday!!! Wow, I can’t believe it…..19. Happy Happy Birthday Chris, this is your year, our year as a family to move forward. Love to you all!!! Missie,Lance,Chris,Ben, Roxy and Gunner!!!! xoxoxo
